I have been building, upgrading and configuring IBM compatible PC's and associated Networks since 1995 and in December 1999 became a Certified 'CompTIA' A+ Hardware and Software Technician.

I also hold certificates for Microsoft Office Applications and I have trained as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. I am currently employed as a senior technician at Adtech Computers.

I started out with an Olivetti DX2-66Mhz Desktop with a huge 8Mb of system ram, 1MB Video card and an enormous 520Mb Hard Disk. At that time the operating system was DOS 6.2 and Microsoft Windows 3.11. Sometimes there was a need to optimise the system to free up resources to get an application or game to run properly. Optimisation and Configuration was vital back then and still is today to a degree, if you want the very best from your PC.

These days many of the popular operating systems don't need too much help at boot up but when you start installing your applications your system can get bogged down.
There are many tweaks and tricks I use to streamline a system once it has booted, freeing up valuable resources and making it quicker and most times easier to use.

The world of the home or business computer moves fast, the hardware can get superseded quickly and can loose it's value just as fast. Knowing what to buy and when, is a skill which can yield 'The Best Bang for Buck'.

It can be difficult for you to know which system is the best one for you, which components and peripherals and how much it should cost, why pay for something you're not going to use or need straight away? My advice, would help you to buy quality components, leaving the option to upgrade or add components later when the need arises.

I have many years of experience with computer hardware and all Microsoft's Operating Systems including the new Windows XP in both the home and business environments.
I also have extensive knowledge of a wide range of software covering:

  • 3D Modeling
  • Archiving
  • Animation
  • Antivirus
  • Audio
  • Authoring
  • Burning
  • DVD's
  • Games
  • Digital Graphics
  • Finance
  • Internet
  • Multimedia
  • OCR
  • Microsoft Office
  • Scanning
  • Text
  • Utilities
  • Web page authoring (examples)

    and more...

I can tutor you on any of the software above, so you will get the most out of your purchase quicker than you probably would by yourself.

    • If you would like assistance on any type of software not listed above, I'm sure I could still help you with it.
