CURRENTLY READING:

'So Cold the River' by Michael Koryta - loving it so far!

JUST READ:

'The Dragon Factory' by Jonathan Maberry - Fantastic novel - read the review on HorrorScope

'The Dead-Tossed Waves' - by Carrie Ryan. Has improved significantly on the first book whilst at the same time building on and throwing away much of its groundwork. Will post a review on HorrorScope soon.

'Blockade Billy' - Stephen King - a short novella. A decent yarn - glad I know about baseball, or it could have been a snooze.

LATEST NEWS:

AUGUST 2010

Eclecticism E-zine has now celebrated its 3rd Anniversary with the release of Issue #13. This was a wonderful issue to put together, and I can't believe there were so many talented individuals in one issue. Read it all for free at: www.eclecticzine.com

In other news, I will also be a judge again for the 2010 Australian Shadows Award. Can't wait to read the quality Australian range of dark fiction.

An in another exciting slice of news, I have signed US master mystery/crime writer Lawrence Block to contribute a short story to a forthcoming Dark Prints Press anthology. Over the f**kin moon about that one! I already have the story - it tingles the spine.

JULY 2010

My wife, Avril, and I have launched Australia's newest dark fiction publisher, small press 'Dark Prints Press'. Read all about this exciting venture at the official website: www.darkprintspress.com.au

JUNE 2010

I had the honour of interviewing crime writer Stuart MacBride for the second time in two years, to discuss his latest novel, 'Dark Blood'. Read the interview via HorrorScope.

APRIL 2010

I had the privilege of interviewing US horror/thriller author Scott Sigler, who was in Perth as Swancon 2010's Guest of Honour. You can read the interview as a two-part post on Horrorscope:

PART ONE and PART TWO

MARCH 2010

I'm back! I have been flooded with writing-related work lately. It's good to take a quick break. I just finished judging the shortlist for the Australian Shadows Award. I also finished editing my YA (11-14 year-old market) novel, which was a blast. I see many sequels for that one. Issue #12 (April 2010) of my Eclecticism E-zine is going smoothly, but you can still view Issue #11 for free.

I am also in the process of putting together and editing a printed anthology (in the form of a real book; yes, real) for the Eclecticism E-zine. It will feature the best work from the first 2 years of the e-zine, plus new exclusive content from quite a few of these contributors. Pre-order details will be out soon, with an expected release date of December 2010!
