Bridal Planning Checklist

Three to Six Months Before:

Choose date, place, time

Book celebrant, arrange appointment to fill in the

'Notice of Intended Marriage'

Discuss wedding, budget, Theme or type of wedding, number of guests and type of reception.

Choose Bridal party attendants - male and female.

Decide on wedding colour scheme: clothes, flowers, stationary, decorations etc.

If caterers are needed, arrange them now.

Order wedding cake.

Book musicians or Party DJ.

Organise/book wedding cars.

Choose and book photographer.

Choose and book videographer.

Choose and book florist.

Choose or start to make wedding dress.

Get sizes for members of the wedding party.

Choose and order attendants clothes and accessories, male and female.

Discuss wedding music and order of service with celebrant.

Decide on honeymoon and make reservations.

Draw up tentative guest list.

10 Weeks Before:

Order wedding invitations, Send overseas invitations, local ones around the 6 week period.

To assist in your ceremony starting on time invite guests to be at the Venue 15 minutes before the start time, you have booked with your celebrant.

Order wedding stationery, place cards, cake boxes, table napkins etc.

Agree on menu with some idea of numbers for caterers.

Choose wedding rings.

Plan and organise wedding present list if required.

Check honeymoon destination for need for visas, passports etc.

Buy shoes for wedding dress and "break-them-in".

Experiment with wedding hairstyle.

Six Weeks Before:

Finalise guest list, send invitations mark on list acceptances and rejections as they arrive.

Write thank-you letters for gifts as received.

Keep a list of gifts received.

Give florist details of the wedding colours, agree on and order flowers. Include the Groom's Button posies.

Buy presents for all attendants.

Arrange when and where attendants will dress and lunch on the wedding day.

Four Weeks Before: 

Have final wedding dress fitting (wearing shoes) and check attendants clothes.

Check groom and best-man have organised clothes, rings, groom's honeymoon clothes etc.

Arrange reception seating plan.

Visit hairdresser with veil for dress rehearsal

Book hair, makeup appointment for wedding day.

See celebrant and arrange a date for wedding rehearsal - if it's really needed.

Notify all concerned of the date and time of the rehearsal.

Two Weeks Before:

Finalise order of service with Celebrant and sign all documents relating to the wedding.

Confirm arrangements with florist, caterer, cars, photographer and videographer.

Try on wedding dress with all accessories.

Check place cards, table setting decorations, etc. are in order.

Check honeymoon arrangements and give travel tickets to best man.

One Week Before:

Check decorating of the cake.

Give final numbers to caterer.

Wrap attendants' gifts.

Hold wedding rehearsal.

Pack going away clothes for the honeymoon and wedding night.

Two days before

Relax, Relax and Relax if it's not done now its probably too late!

The Big Day
