Joseph RICE 1826 - 1903 m. 1852. Joseph was born in Waddesdon Buchinghamshire England and baptised in the Church of St Michael and All Angels on 24 December 1826. He was the first child of James RICE (bapt 1801) and Ann PIGGOT (bapt 1805). Thomas RICE (bapt 1808) was Joseph's uncle. Joseph arrived at Sydney on board Scotia on 9 July 1849. It is not known how he travelled to South Australia. He settled in theWilunga district.

He lived at Willaston for most of his life.
