Central Queensland artist, librarian and writer, residing in Rockhampton. A keen interest in children's book illustration is reflected in my work.
I have
exhibited in local art exhibitions with Central Qld Contemporary Artists
and Capricorn Coast Art Festival Yeppoon 2007.
Finalist exhibitor in Ergon Energy Central Queensland Art Awards at the
Rockhampton Art Gallery 2006/7 I've concentrated on line drawings in pen and ink for more than 30 years. My
ink drawing style is minimalist, searching for the emotional undertones
and essence of each subject, often working from the subconscious as a
means of inspiration.
As a member
of Central Queensland Contemporary Artists since 2003, I have exhibited
works in each of their exhibitions. In 2004, as part of this group, I
produced a number of illustrations in a variety of media from watercolour
to digital art, to illustrate haiku in “Haiku on Broadway”, by Cameron
Borg.
Have
participated in workshops in linocut and Hebel block sculpture, stained
glass and pottery, producing works in
these media.
In
recent years I've been experimenting with acrylic work on canvas, and digital
works using a drawing tablet. Digital art offers a chance to develop line
drawings further, to colour, photomanipulate them and to collage drawings
with digital photographs, to thereby pushing an idea to its limits with
programs such as Photoshop. For
the past year I have worked on an illustration project. My
picturebook, "Owl and the Pussycat" is now available for sale
through this website.
