you might discover they have potential!
A little research might be necessary for some of them.
in a cave system far beneath the ground
in the olden days, any country you choose
in a deep, dark, dank dungeon
at school (but maybe none of the teachers have turned up?)
in a place where magic works all the time
on a desert island (but one that is not exactly totally uninhabited)
in some other era of history
at a shopping centre, when it's closed
in a large but deserted museum or library
in a haunted building
in an enormous hotel
in a very old and strange house
in a big city somewhere on Earth, but in another country
on top of a very high mountain
in a lighthouse on an island
in a castle that is NOT haunted
in another country, one that you know something about
on a spaceship, far, far from any planets
far away from civilization (but still somewhere on Earth)
on an aeroplane (large or small)
at a gathering of people for some reason (a party, a convention, a concert, whatever you fancy)
at a gathering of writers of a specific genre (eg a gathering of romance writers, or writers of westerns, or science fiction writers)
on another planet in our solar system
on an alien spaceship
in a jungle filled with wild and hungry beasts
on an uninhabited planet not in our solar system ie make one up
on our world - a thousand years in the future
at your birthday party
on a farm
in a shop filled with expensive and breakable goods
in a factory that makes clocks
on a journey
during a flood or a fire
a Very Bad Day
during a parade
during a race of some kind
during a great battle or maybe just a small fight
