we learn them?" "Of course," said Sue. "They
are a bit harder than all the other tables we've learned, but
I'm sure we can do them too!" "All right. So where do we
start? Oh, I know! First of all we make sure we can count by sevens." "That's right," Sue smiled. "I'm going to make a chart
of - " "Not cats!" "I like cats. But this time
I'm going to use dogs." "Dogs are all right," agreed
Sam. "Big ones with lots of teeth." Sue made a chart with dogs
on it. "Yes," said Sue. "I'll go
first." And she counted: "Seven, fourteen, twenty one,
twenty eight, thirty five, Forty two, forty nine, fifty
six, sixty three and seventy!" "Now it's my turn," Sam said.
Here are the sevens in numerals: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49,
56, 63, 70. Next they wrote the Seven
Times Table out. You can print this all out
and then trace over the numerals. 1 x 7 = 7 "No, neither can I," agreed
Sam. "It looks like we just have to learn them and practise them.
I'm glad we only have the Eights and Nines after this." "That's true," said Sue. "But
don't forget we already know some of them because you can write
the numbers around the other way." And she did just that. 7 x 1 = 7 Count by sevens again. Say
the Seven Times Table again. Then you can try these. Be
careful because they are all jumbled up. 2 x 7 = And so can you! Sue didn't find a pattern
for the numbers. But if you have an ODD number
times seven, you get an odd number for the
answer. And if you have an EVEN number
times seven, you get an even number for
the answer.
