Home Island is an interesting place with its long history of habitation and the thriving community or Kampong of Cocos Malays. Though smaller than West Island it is much more sheltered and is the site of Oceania House where the Clunies-Ross family lived. Also the site of the old school, new primary school, museum, cemetery, copra sheds, small banana plantations and a set off point to Prison Island. Home Island has a laid back life style, most local people have four wheeler bikes as their mode of transport for shopping, launching boats and just touring. Click Here to return to the links page. |
