The Cocos Keeling Islands are made up of two atolls, North Keeling and South Keeling and are about 24 kilometres apart. South Keeling is composed of a string of islands in a horseshoe shape with two of the larger islands being inhabited, West Island and Home Island. The South Keeling Island group was once a coconut plantation for over 100 years and North Keeling is still in a virtually undisturbed state and is administered by Parks and Wildlife. |
