My online folio is divided into information about myself under my alias blackbird9, projects born of personal interest and education - ie fanwork, and freelance work, as my paid design work is usually an extension or separate to my main role.

i studied a Bachelor Of Arts: Multimedia Design with Honours, majoring in interface design. Of my interests, i pursue with programming and animation. However my commercial work centres on print and web design, with many examples shown here. Where available, direct links have been included within the folio webpages or via the online website menu. Higher resolutions of artwork can be provided at request.

Like all my web design, i take pride in building for speed. Maybe that's because i started back in the dialup days, but i feel it remains pertinent to avoid unnecessary and unrequested media and being efficient with included data. This means avoiding repeated code where possible (eg frames, CSS) and make use of image formats with compression schemes that complement the qualities of the images. With this folio website, i've focused on a cleaner layout and interface than previous. It is entirely manually coded in HTML and CSS, and tested during development in both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.

i've cropped into the image space of "blackbird9" at the top of the page to conserve screen space but retain readability. The page title is intentionally misplaced such that its baseline connects with the black menu strip. All photography in the site is taken by me (except the photo of me on the mobile). Photography used within design projects is often supplied, although some original photography may be added. Links are coloured according to being internal or external pointers.
