Why?

Well...why not?

My internet service provider has kindly allocated some free web space so it would be a pity to waste it. And what better way to use the space than to display a few galleries of images that I particularly like.

My main interest, photographically speaking, is the natural world so most images here involve the landscape and the Australian flora. It's not that people don't interest me - I'm just not very good at portraiture, so I'm happy to leave that field to those that are.

Where?

All of the images have been captured in the eastern states of Australia, mainly New South Wales. I am yet to experience the landscapes and flora of the centre and west of the continent, an omission that I hope to rectify in the next few years.

A lot of the photographs have been taken in and around Castlereagh in western Sydney, where I live, and on the south coast of New South Wales.

With What?

Pentax S1a

I use Pentax equipment (mainly) not because it's any better than other types but it's what I started with and I like it.

Over the years I've used a variety of Pentax cameras starting with an S1a in the 1960s and progressing to a KX, Super A, P50, SFXn, Z20 and MZ5. There was also a Ricoh XR2 for a few years - a fine camera as well.

These film cameras have now all but been retired because digital photography offers so many more possibilities. I now use a Pentax K200D and a Pentax *ist DS most of the time.

Lenses, I've had a few.... Most often I call on an SMC Pentax DA 16-45 mm, SMC Pentax FA 80-320 mm SMC Pentax K 50 mm f1.4, Tamron SP 90 mm macro and Tamron SP 300 mm to fulfill most of my current needs. There are several others that I use from time to time and a wide angle prime lens of around 14 mm is on my wish list.

What Else?

These are other projects that I've been dabbling in....
