AAAbarcode was a small company with 10 employees. They sold barcoding equipment from small label printers to industrial constant inkjet printers. The company was also heavily involved in software and hardware engineering.

As a technician there I had the following duties

  • Service/repair POS Printers and barcode scanners
  • Service/repair CIJ and DOD printers
  • Routine and major service of all customer equipment
  • Provide telephone support to customers
  • Layout PCBs using Protel (up to DXP)
  • Manufacture and Test PCBs
  • Manufacture systems to engineer's specs
  • Support products sold and/or designed by AAABarcode
  • Provide computer support to employees
  • Support engineers with knowledge of production techniques

BVTThis unit read all barcodes that go into pharmaceutical products to ensure that the right information is supplied with the correct drug

CBIThis unit printed the expiration date on the top of food products at a rate of 2.5 units a second, with some clever design this unit saved the customer the cost of buying 4 more printers at a cost of $40,000 per printer

ENVThis unit helped save time starting up and shutting down industrial inkjet printers and also reduced service costs of the printers drastically

LINThis unit is used by several counsels and save thousands of man hours every election by scanning postal vote envelopes and checking them against a database , before this all the envelopes were scanned manually

SDCThis collection of units is a solar powered clocking in system used at mine sites, it stores the time employees clock in and out and is valuable in case of emergencies as it reports who is on-site
