You will NEVER
need to know these things, but thanks for asking!
The debut of this version of
CONTACT! occurred on Friday, October 22, 1999. It began
life as a three-hour shift, and usually bore some relation to the
original Wednesday night show at 2RDJ-FM, Burwood, Sydney (which
itself terminated production on February 27, 2002). It's moved
around quite a bit since then. On March 9, 2000, the programme
moved from Friday nights to an early Friday morning shift.
Beginning with show #71, June 8, 2001, the programme shrank by an
hour to run from 1-3am AEST on Friday mornings, and was now
recorded on DAT instead of long-play videotape. In yet
further reshuffles of programme times at the Network,
CONTACT! moved again on May 8, 2002 from the Friday morning
timeslot it had occupied for the previous two years, again in
October 2003 to Wednesday mornings from 12.06-2.00am AEST,
and on April 1 2004 was shrunk to a one-hour format and moved
yet again to Thursday nights at 11.00pm. A further
change came with the move from DAT to MiniDisc on May 6, 2004. So
now you know.
