Point Malcolm & Cape Arid Fishing Spots

Point Malcolm

To get to Point Malcolm, go along the Israelite Bay track until you see the sign post about half way out. Make sure you have 2 4wd vehicles for safety. .

Camp Site at Point Malcolm

Point Malcolm used to be the unloading point for cargo ships early last century. The cargo was destined for the goldfields to the north and the surrounding area up until 1924.

Here are good beaches and sheltered areas near the beach, but no toilets or other facilities. The area is privately owned by the Ridgway Family, however it is not a restricted area as long as you keep to the beach areas.

Poison Creek

Mullaway Beach

Merivale road leads to the track to Poison Creek. It is a good gravel road with camping sites near the creek with an opening to a small bay.

Take care when driving on the beach near the bay as the sand is very soft. There is better driving on the track in the dunes behind the beach. Fishing is good there with sheltered camp sites and a toilet and shelter.

Jorndee Creek

Another view of Pt Malcolm

Turn off along the Poison Creek track at the sign. This is a good 4WD track leading into camp sites with ground toilets, water and a shelter.

Jorndee Creek is a beautiful creek which runs into the sea. There is a good track to the beach. Fishing is available in the creek or at the beach. This spot is well sheltered from the onshore winds. A truly lovely place.

Thomas Fisheries

Just a stroll to the beach

This is another sign-posted turn off along the Poison Creek track.

Visit Hill Springs where the old homestead was established in the early 1900s. Now there are only ruins left.

You will be amazed at the variety of plants including ferns in the spring valley part of this country.

The track to Thomas Fisheries beach is difficult, strictly for experienced 4WD operators. There are good facilities for camping at the beach. Fresh water is available from the creek. There are toilets, beach access and sand fishing at the bay and the beach.

Kennedy Beach

Follow Merivale Rd to Exchange Rd then turn right into the track. This track is not negotiable when wet. The water holes along the track need careful driving.

Point Malcolm and Cape Arid fishing spots

At the beach there is a camping shed and toilets that have been built by the Esperance Fishing club. There is access to the beach with camping sites as well. It is well sheltered and water is available in tanks. Please use it carefully. Fishing off the beach usually yields a catch.
