Daves DR650 project.

I brought my bike on ebay in October of 2005. I paid $3500, looked ok in the pic above. Never judge a book by its cover. On closer inspection & running, roadworthy etc;  new battery, new tyres, new horn, new chain & new  rear disc rotor. Be warned, dont buy off ebay if you cant look at it up close. Of course some people do get lucky, i feel that i paid $1000 too much.
On riding, it is rather slow off the mark till it gets too about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle then takes off, like a powerband. Does have a bit of a problem, every now & then it will drop 2nd gear under load. The seat is a little uncomfortable after about an hour or 2 of riding time. My boss has exactly the same bike, same year, his seat has been modified and his doesn't have the sluggishness of mine off the mark.  I have ridden mine for about a year & put 3000 kilometres on her, yes i have put in a lot of complaints but it has been a lot of fun at the same time. All the while i have been doing bits n pieces to her, cleaning her up & adding mods.

Well, my plan is to go supermoto, ridiculous the price you have to pay just for 2 rims. I can go buy 4 new alloy rims + tyres for my car for the same price as 2 rims for a bike, talk about ripping us off. Price we enthusiasts have to pay i suppose.
I have pulled her apart, was going to do some engine work while she was in bits but have run short on funds, maybe next year.  Just a thorough clean, paint job, some new bearings & a few trick bits if there is any money left over.

This is a fairly large project for me, i'm only a backyarder, i'm no mechanic but i'm handy with a spanner, will be interesting putting her back together again.
