If
your a beginner or just want to refresh the basics, you have come to the
right site...
The series starts with Lesson 1 followed by Lesson 2, progressing
indefinitely...
Listen to the demo in real audio format without downloading anything. If
you don't own a real audio player, see Download Page.
If you like what you hear, down load the wave file Lesson 1, onto your
hard disk, put on some closed headphones and play along with the lesson.
I recommend recording the audio onto high quality tape or CD.
The drum lessons are a big wave file, which will take up a lot of hard
disk space.
Alan McLeans Drum Lessons are based around a five piece drum kit:
22 Kick or Bass drum
12 High Tom, 14 Middle Tom and 16 Floor Tom
Cymbals
are:
2 x 16 Crash Cymbals
20 Ride Cymbal
14 High Hats
18 China
I
use a double kick pedal on my 22 Bass drum. These early lessons are
based around a single kick pedal when playing live instead of two 16
Crashes. I use a 16, 18 Crash or two 18 Crash setup, depending
on the situation. I use Vic Firth 5B Nylon sticks.
IMPORTANT
The
information you listen to and read is my view and perspective only, and
it may differ from other drummers and teachers. I
have had a great success rate with teaching beginners, which is why I
have pushed ahead with this project. I have been responsible to the best of my ability and I am proud of this
product.
I
strongly recommend getting other teachers opinions and views, especially when it comes to rudiment and reading studies. I will be introducing
reading into the lessons as the series progresses.
You
will need good quality closed headphones. If you are having trouble
hearing the lesson over the volume of
your kit, try temporarily
dampening your drums with material or light rubber cut to size and taped
to your kit.
Look
after your hearing. I always wear ear plugs. Even
short bursts of loud music can damage your hearing.
