Message To The Students

Hi there drummers!

Due to the building of my personal studio, the audio drum lesson series has temporarily stalled on 17 lessons. The building of this studio was a must for the continuance of the lesson series. It was a huge job "That Had To Be Done".

I have gained extensive experience on sound proofing and acoustics and I will be dedicating a page to this subject in the near future.

The first 17 audio lessons are aimed at the progressing beginner. I have tried to cover as many contemporary styles as time permitted. I have concentrated on developing time rather than fancy fills (rolls).

The second phase of the drum lesson series will be more advanced, working on double kick patterns and complicated fills, so stay tuned!

Audio drum lesson 18 will be available in the near future.

Regards, Alan Mclean...

This  month's tip:  When tuning, a nasty ring will usually be coming from the skin area of one  drum lug. Isolate the the lug by striking each drum until you find the drum ( or drums ) with the ring source, then strike the drum head and place a finger on the skin near each lug until the offending ringing lug is found. Tighten or loosen the lug until the ring turns into a tone. Note: you will need to retune the drum as the above will change the tone. One bad lug can change the whole sound of the kit.
