Sinner’s Cake (Date-Choc Torte) 

Serves lots

 

Ingredients:

8 oz almonds, finely chopped

8 oz dates, finely chopped

8 oz cooking chocolate, finely chopped    

6 egg whites

4 oz caster sugar

 

 

 

To Serve:   

 

double cream

halved strawberries

 

Method:

Beat egg whites, gradually adding sugar, until medium soft peaks form. Fold in chopped almonds, dates and chocolate.

Grease and line the spring-form tin with alfoil.  Pour in chocolate mixture. Bake at approximately 180oC for 40 minutes. Allow to cool in the tin before removing sides of tin (leave the bottom of tin where it is!).

Serve on a pretty plate, and cut very slim wedges as it is VERY rich.  Pass double cream and strawberries to guests to add to own servings as they wish.
