Behold the power of the Net
Well hurrah, another Friday done with. Again, an unbelievably boring day at work. I was so exhausted for doing nothing, I went straight home, fed, and was in bed by about 2130. I'm an old woman, okay? I'm allowed.
Mind you I had an adrenalin packed Thursday evening. A proper session at the gym, then after dinner the 'rents picked me up for a trip to Ikea. Oh wheeeeeee. This place just gets me every time, it's a kind of retail feeding frenzy cum black hole and I fall for it every time. I meant to get an extension for my pine bookshelves (strut at side and several shelves), and yes I was successful in that endeavour. No doubt the chrome CD holders, bendy drinking straws (named Groggy of all things), and photo frames will also come in handy. Oh and don't forget the apple corer. Unnamed, unfortunately. So it looks like I'll be sanding and varnishing, and making my special baked apples over the weekend. Don't you wish you was I?

Vis a vis today's title; thanks to Google and a bit of bloodhound work, I have just found a long lost friend. We were neighbours and schoolmates about a kerzillion years ago, but gradually lost touch when she went back to the US with her family and went to college and all that stuff ... while I was doing the same kind of thing here. We were real 'kindred spirits' (I know that's a well known term and I think its widely used in Anne of Green Gables, but could someone clarify please?), fellow geeks and horse/dragon freaks and I was very very sad to lose her. I'd tried to track her down at various times in the intervening years but never had no luck.
Anyways I'd been thinking of her lately, as one does think of dear friends at times of great change and joy, and tapped her name into Google. Not expecting any luck of course. And voila! I found a link, which led to a another link, which led to my sweetie. So then I mailed (one of those really truly embarrassing "um I'm probably on the wrong track here but by any chance would you happen to be - " emails); it was her, she emailed back, I emailed back ... So yay. And there was great joy and *hugging*.
What is truly weird, is that in spite of the years, geographical distance, different and unexpected roads taken, we have kind of ended up in the same place, at around the same time.
Karmic twins, or something? Perhaps. Its way cool anyway, and so heartwarming (oh someone pass the insulin, fer crying out loud) ...

And now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to have the best kind of Friday night. Pasta, a bit of vegetating in front of the video (the last couple of ep's of Buffy), chocolate ice cream with drambuie. Oh I am so the party girl.
