Feelin' groovy

Oh what a good weekend I've had. I am ever so chipper, a totally different woman from the wreck I was a week or so ago, and definitely more 'me'. Phew. What a relief (er, I think ...)

Along with several conversations with my lovely boy (six days!! SIX!) I had a couple of shopping trips (for boring stuff like food and loo paper), did a few workouts - stretches, yoga stuff, several hundred sit-ups, you know, the usual (honest), went to the movies and dinner with Sooz, did loads of housework and paperwork ... Altogether very constructive!

Sooz and I went into Subiaco and had a yummy dinner at the Colonial Club. Caesar Salad -  no croutons - and garlicky potatoes for me, cream of English Spinach soup and Thai Chicken Salad for Sooz, plus a great bottle of wine to offset all that healthy shit. Mad Fish Bay's Premium Dry Red yum. Mad Fish Bay is one of the new-ish wineries down in the south-west of this glorious state, where some dayum good wines are being produced these days.

Then we went on to the moooovies. This being a girls' night, we had chosen to see Save the Last Dance, because neither of us had seen a dance movie since, oh, Footloose? and we just felt like it ... How come I feel this need to justify this choice??? Okay, so it ain't culture but it was entertaining so I tried not to deconstruct and shred it to pieces. Loved the music and moves of course, and the whole interracial/class theme had a slightly different spin. I thought Julia Stiles was cool. Sooz says she is best in Ten Things I Hate About You though, so I'll have to check that one out on video. I love The Taming of the Shrew and made a damn fine Kate way back in the day ...

Poor Sooz was pretty uncomfortable during the movie, though, because her belly-ring was playing up. I mean it was kinda causing inflammation and general irritation in that area, anyway. And when that happens you don't want to be wearing a garment with a waistband. Even if the waistband is loose ... sitting down causes said waistband to dig in and owowowowow.

Sooz and I got our navels pierced together a couple of years back ... it was all her idea to begin with, because she's The Girl, but then I got to really like the thought. They are just so cool ... And I was thinking about getting a tattoo at the time, but simply could not commit to it. You know, the permanency, like. The belly-ring seemed to be a case of 'same effect, less fuss'.

When we finally made the date to get it done, and rolled up at the piercing place, Sooz nearly chickened out and so I went first, not blinking an eye and saying 'oh no, doesn't hurt a bit!'. We both went for a stiff drink after though ...

I haven't had any problems at all with mine, guess I've been lucky. I have the cutest little 18ct gold ring in there with a little charm dangling off it - a bit like a very square Celtic cross, not crucifix-y at all which would just be way too ... incongruous perhaps? Sooz went the banana bell route with a twinkly bit - very very cute.

I just love my belly-ring - it somehow makes me feel groovy and cute and sexy, yet its not too obvious. I mean, hardly anyone except me ever sees it, but I know its there and that's enough. Though it does kinda catch guys' eyes at the gym, hee. I don't think I could get anything else pierced though ... nose rings are cool - just on other people.

And who knows? One day I might even commit to that tattoo.
