Same again (Pain part II)

Having another rough day.

Tuesday night I was feeling a little looser, a little easier. I'd managed some yoga and weights (as I have for the last week, yay me), Sam and I had a yummy dinner, followed by an unexpected and fairly aerobic marital romp (the best kind, in my opinion) and had snuggled into bed fairly early for a couple of chapters of Ender's Game.

After that, and the usual bedtime routine (contact lenses out, teeth brushed, face washed etc etc) we settled for sleep. And ten minutes later I was screaming blue bloody murder. The right side of my neck and entire right shoulder and arm had gone into massive muscle spasm, upper and lower trapezoids, deltoids and biceps and triceps. I couldn't move. Except for the whole totally involuntary jerking and writhing around thing. I was pretty desperate; usually muscle spasms as severe as that build and build, but such a sudden "attack" (no other word for it) was even more frightening.

I got Sam to do a little manipulation; pressing down whilst pushing up on the offending areas, which he could feel jazzing away under his hands. Then release, then press again. A physio showed me this trick once; it supposedly uses the "muscle energy" against itself, or something; or maybe the little bit of brute force did the trick. Anyway it calmed a little, but I took a couple of muscle relaxants and a sleeping pill* to ensure a quiet night.

* I don't usually "mix" like that, but in such cases there's really no choice.

Anyways, I had a restless night all the same, and for the past couple of days have felt kinda like elephants have been tangoing energetically on my back, whilst wearing elephant sized versions of those shoes with spikes on the soles, for the purpose of aerating lawns.

I've spent a lot of time in bed, and taking warm baths (nothing like total immersion in hot water - it's one of the times I'm exceedingly glad I'm small as I can actually achieve flotation in a "normal" sized bath without having to get into weird positions or expose knees/feet/breasts to freezing cold air).

I've also managed a spot of cooking - a divine dinner last night, a huge pot of rich chicken stock, half of which has been frozen and the other half of which I have devious plans for, and of course I want to tackle that cream of mushroom soup again. "Smut" is a good colour for eyeliner, but not for soup. I bought a heap of tiny white button mushrooms, which may make a difference, and am considering adding a little potato or rice to lighten the shade. But tell me, someone please, how come Campbell's and Heinz's Mushroom Soups are always an innocuous creamy colour with the occasional bit floating around? How do they get that? Grr, argh.

I'm still waiting on the domain registration mob to set up my email address/alias thingy, so that I can insert a proper link at Speak - then you can all send me hate mail or "shut up with your fucking whinging" messages. I look forward to it.
