Pissy cat

Jessie is a pissy cat. No doubt about it; that's the only adequate description. Oh, maybe moody, contrary, aggravating, haughty, deliberately annoying, snooty - but all those descriptions remain fundamentally Cat. Jessie is all of those, and then some. So, pissy.

(It's also a nice variation on pussy-cat; in our house, instead of "here pussy, pussy-cat, puss puss puss" you'll hear "here pissy, pissy-cat, piss piss piss". Childish and immature indeed, but nevertheless amusing.)

She adores being cuddled. She starts purring like a V8 as soon as you start stroking her/pick her up/cuddle her in any way. Yet 50% of the time she runs away when you go to stroke her, as if she were deathly terrified, but then has her arse right in your face demanding strokes five minutes later.

She won't speak to you at all one day, the next she's rolling over and mrowing and tarting around under your feet and pretty much soliciting without a licence ... until you go to stroke her and then she's off.

She keeps bloody losing Froggie (her little bright green beanie frog toy; her absolute favourite) and rarely deigns to play with any new toys, much preferring a roll of cellotape or a handkerchief with a knot tied in it (in which I have secretly placed some catnip mwahahahahahah).

She drinks out of my water glass. I've hissed at her, smacked her nose, sprayed her with the water squirt gun thing, and thrown the whole fucking glass in her fucking face (nb; not all at the same time), but she keeps drinking out of my water glass.

She jumps on my head in the morning to wake me up, deliberately tangling my hair up in her claws, and then she leaps off the bed. Yow. (I clipped her claws the other day. Mwahahahahah again. But, it's not as bad as it sounds as I've been getting her used to having her feet and toes played with since she was a kitty, and she loves the cuddles and attention, plus the vet showed me how to do it properly. So there.)

Oh okaaaaaay. She's the cutest prettiest most charming bloody little cat ever.

(Actually not so little; she's got big and long; jaysis is she long. Like, a draught excluder with legs long.)

Listening to:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Musical

Reading:

Laura Esquivel.  Like Water for Chocolate.  A re-read, of course, but I felt like continuing the whole South-American magical-realism theme after Love in the Time of Cholera

Eating/cooking:

One of my spicy chicken noodle soups, made with a delicious home-made chicken stock, fine rice noodles, shredded chicken, with baby sweetcorn and snow peas and lots of finely chopped garlic, ginger, and green finger chillies. YUM. I got my appetite back, I tell you.
