Happy temporary residency visa

I never thought the day would come, I was convinced.  After my experience *cough* with the UK Immigration Department, I figured Tuxedo and I were severely jinxed vis a vis paperwork and visa applications.  I was positive there's be some problem, some query and hold-up that would screw us over ...

I'd therefore like to state here and now, that the Australian Immigration Department is pretty damn competent and efficient.  They may make you feel like criminals and worms, but in the end - they delivered!  Yes, my friends, today Tuxedo got his temporary residency visa.  Yes, you heard me right:

TUXEDO GOT HIS VISA.

We received the official "approval" letter yesterday, so legged it into town today to queue up (fortunately not for too long) to get The Actual Bit Of Paper.  It was a proper bit of paper too - ie, not a mere rubber stamp - but a proper printout that was neatly stuck into his passport (yes, we got copies straight away).  I must admit, the feller who has that particular job - of sticking successful visas into people's passports - must have one of the more rewarding jobs at DIMIA - he sees people smile and bounce and glow (well, I did all those things, but then most people are much cooler than me).

And yes, we celebrated this time.  I just can't believe this period of being in an endless looping holding pattern is finally over ... at least for another two years.  Gah.  The next step of course is Tuxedo's jobsearch, but personally I don't think he'll have any problems whatsoever.

So - WHEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
