Stuff

The last week has been one of those weeks that's fairly slow and boring, yet full of appointments and events.  You know - just life stuff and stuff.  The big event for me was eating for the first time in nearly a week and a half - it was fish and salad, went down okay but I had to sit very still for half an hour afterward and actively control the heave reflex, ick.  I'm still having to do that after each meal; it damn well wants to come back up.  My stomach muscles and ribs are quite sore from all that carry-on.

Anyway, enough of that subject.  Tux and I have been busy with shopping, going out a few times with friends etc, beautician's appointments (both of us actually - hurrah for hair removal - Tux has found going smooth much more comfortable and pleasant - and safer - for cycling and I rather like the results too *cough*), doctor's appointments (me - more jabs ow ow ow), driving lessons (Tuxedo), hydro- and physical therapy (me - a full-time job in itself), doing lots of paperwork, the Christmas card mail out, visiting David and Micah and little Reuben etc etc etc.  I've also managed to do the grocery shopping, cook dinner a few times, make jars and jars of curry pastes etc, do some housework, all very domestic.

Reuben is absolutely adorable - yes I know, I'm biased but I think he's very special.  I've never been keen on babies, they all look like larvae to me, and so terribly fragile.  And of course, they all scream bloody blue murder if I pick them up - not exactly confidence-inspiring.  Reuben is very strong and alert, and rather than screaming when I pick him up, gurgles away and responds to me.  He even tries to focus and makes lots of faces, and is perfectly content.  I was over at David and Micah's place on the weekend actually, and spent a couple of hours lying in their hammock with Reuben lying on my stomach or lying back against my bent knees.  He was very happy, even Micah commented on it.  He seems to be a very easy baby, as babies go; he's not cranky or colicky, is feeding well (at the "milk truck" as Micah calls herself) and stacking on some good weight.  He's a much-photographed baby too, what with all of the digital cameras in the family; I'm planning on making up several pages of passport-sized pics for Micah to choose from or cut out and stick into his baby book.  There's lots of potentially embarrassing material there - I never knew newborn baby boys' balls were so HUGE - so they can be saved for his 21st birthday party mwahahahah ... evil Auntie Jules is going to be the most corrupting and embarrassing influence she can possibly be (with full support from Uncle Tuxedo).

The next week looks like being pretty busy; I have heaps of appointments for some reason, and a long ever-growing To Do List.  I need to pick up those jars and bottles to pack my curry pastes in and label them all plus do a few other last minute Christmassy things (so much for my smugness the other day), I'm buying new sandals (Birkenstocks), Tux and I are getting our hair cut, my drivers licence needs renewing NOW ... the list goes on, my diary is looking pretty full.  Not a good sign for the week before Christmas where all is hectic and chaotic around this household and the parental units tend to become more melodramatic and uptight than usual ... here's to a successful and productive (and lo-drama) week.

Eating:

Green fish curry with green beans, jasmine rice

Exercising:

Back to the usual routine; plus a couple of hydrotherapy sessions - surprisingly hard work but fun
