The gear we choose to carry with us on each trip
will vary depending on where we are going, whether or not we are travelling
alone and of course space/weight considerations. Actually, these
days we tow an offroad campertrailer and have a roof rack which we fit to the
vehicle if required, so space is not really the issue for us but weight
certainly is.
Overloading your vehicle and/or trailer is not only dangerous and places you in
a precarious situation insurance wise in the event that you need to make a
claim, it also adds to your overall fuel costs and causes extra wear and tear on
the vehicle and trailer. So, as tempting as it is to take everything
"just in case", we consider each trip separately and pack only what we
