/One Size Fits MostI was listening to Primal Scream's Higher Than The Sun a lot, living in a block of units I (obviously) hated and operating on a body clock that saw me sleep from 7am-2pm, as I had my newborn baby in the house, who wasn't used to sleeping through the night. Which suited me fine, 'cos neither was I. This block of units was in Beaconsfield, across the road from South Fremantle Senior High School where I used to go in year 8. I left because I was being bullied too much; so there was a lot of good energy in the air for me around there. We were/are very attached to the house we were/are in (we were able to move back) and couldn't find a house to live in, so had to live in a second floor flat. I hate living in flats. I'm noisy and inconsiderate, but I've got nothing on most of the tenants in that building. I remember each sunday morning at 7am we would be woken up by the bogans across the road cleaning their car to the sound of 50 Cent's abysmal Candy Shop. EVERY SUNDAY. The guy who lived next door to us was actually really nice. We never said goodbye, which I feel a bit bad about, because he was actually really cool. Everyone else there sucked though. The chorus to this song makes me feel a bit embarrassed, but I think it's only because of the semi-American accent I sang it in. I don't know why I did that. Apart from that, I think this is actually quite good; the one chord the lead synth struggles to escape for the entire song is probably one of my more effective musical motifs. I tried this live a couple of times and it was just a bit boring. In a band setup it might work as there's a lot of room for improvisation within it, but with one guy tweaking knobs, I can't see it being much fun. |
