Life
has been pretty rad this month.
My
MIDI Controller situation, as discussed somewhat grumpily in a previous Distractomatic,
finally came to a close. After all that went down, I emailed him a few times to
say if he sent me the cash to post it back to him I’d be happy to send it
back; he just sent me an email yesterday saying that I COULD KEEP IT bec
The
tour’s coming together pretty well (touch wood) and everything, for a change,
appears to be running to schedule. (Touch wood. Again.) The poster and the press
release both took me a long time to get right, but I’m somewhere in the
vicinity of satisfied with them. Now it’s just pure street pimpin’ from now
until I go. And I can pimp. Da pimpin’ is easy.
I’m
on rather good live form at the moment, so I’m extremely totally pumped to be
going away. I’ve got a bit of a break before then, which is good ‘cos I want
to change a few things around in the set before I go away to take the shows to
the next level of awesomeness. I’ve got some new material and I’m trying a
few new physical ideas out at the moment. Not to mention that I’ve got me ma
squirreled away, working on some costumes for me to ass

the way, last month’s Distractomatic went out before I proofread it, so if you
were wondering why I all of sudden stopped mid-sentence every so often or
misspelled things in a slightly avant-garde way, that’s probably why. Although
it’s also very possible that I either just didn’t notice or that left all
that stuff in to piss you off. I like to keep a slight air of ambiguity about
myself. And I’m lazy. Actually, it’s probably just that I can be a
little lazy and it was 2am or something and I wanted to go to bed.

THAT SUCK
- 21
– There’s a post in the Shitfilter
on tomasford.com about 21. Oh my god. Seriously in my bottom 5 movies ever.
- Rogue
– Almost as bad. Has a whole pile of pointless two dimensional characters
milling around a river and doesn’t kill most of them off. Fucking stupid.
I don’t think I was the target market though? I think American college
nerds from 21 would’ve loved it. I would’ve rather watched a movie of
them watching Rogue than the pedestrian, squeaky clean Varsity
Blues-esque crap of that film.

Night remake – No gore! Not enough death! Not enough interesting means of
death! Did I mention there was NO GORE!??
- Worldwide
Food Shortage – Why is this even happening? I thought this was what
civilisation was for in the first place?

Garrett Not Being In Midnight Oil Anymore – I was listening to
Capricornia, their last album, yesterday. It sounds like the kind of record
you make when you’re building up to your next one. Not anything at all
like the kind of record you make before abandoning your principles. (Oooooh!
Ford gets political!!)

least half of my cd collection – but do you think I can bring myself to
ditch any of it?

Poor – I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but being poor
sucks some serious balls. I got a haircut today for the first time in months
and the hairdresser said “Ohhhhh, you’ve really let this grow out,
haven’t you” in a disapproving voice. I couldn’t quite make eye
contact with her for the rest of the haircut out of guilt for making her
slice through the forest on my head. It’d been around six months, so it
took a while and the salon only got $17.50 out of the equation.

Chances
are that if you like my stuff you probably like Bjork, but just in case you
don’t, this album is a good one. It’s the one with all the sampled throat
singing on it, which makes it sound scary and pretentious but it’s not as bad
as it seems. There’s a lot of people who pretend not to like it bec

– 2020
All three of their albums are really interesting. Cute, tasteful Australian
techno that reveals hidden layers and pockets of energy every time I listen to
it. Even their cover of Cliff Richard’s Wired
For Sound is the bomb.
