Rebirth of St.John The Beloved
On
Sunday, 6th July 2003, the parish doors were reopened
and a new era had begun. The activities for the
day included the rededication of the church, the
Induction of the new Vicar and the celebration
of the Holy Eucharist.
Our Regionary Bishop, Rt.Rev. James
White was the celebrant and presided over the service.
Others in the sanctuary included Fr Alan Neeson
(Deacon), Alan Davis (Subdeacon), Fr Fred Shade
(M.C.), Charles O'Brien (Server), and Laura Ealey
(Organist).
The new Vicar, Very Rev. Frederick
Shade, was presented to the bishop by Blanche
White, and the scripture reading was delivered
by Ron Arnot. Russell Cole and Ron Arnot made
various repairs to the building in order to have
it ready for the great day, and Blanche co-ordinated
the arrangements for the luncheon with other willing
helpers.
There were over 40 people present
for this reopening, and included two
members from Brisbane, and Fr Malcolm Black (Vicar,
Adelaide) and Dean Warren (Server, Adelaide),
as well as family and friends of the new Vicar.
It was a truly memorable occasion,
and was the outcome of a lot of prayer and planning,
refocussing, and a genuine desire to work together.
