RECORDING
JOURNEYINGS
(New CD by The Vocal Consort)
The Consort is Australia's leading vocal ensemble. It was formed in 1984 and consists of former members of the Australian Boys Choir. It has made several recordings and has toured overseas to critical acclaim.
Its conductor is Noel Ancell and they made this new recording at Melba Hall, University of Melbourne, in November 2004. There are 19 tracks totalling 67 minutes of superb music.
Track 4 is a piece entitled "Roadways", text by John Masefield and music by New Zealand composer David Hamilton. It requires a whistler, and with the permission of the composer, Fred was invited to play this part on the piccolo. It worked!
The music on the CD is of world class standard and very beautiful. Highly recommended.
