First draw for the bianconeri, stopped with 0-0 in Lecce. With respect to the turnover, Marcello Lippi lines up a modified team in the defence and in the forward comparing to what he did up to now: he has choosen Davids after the disqualification, Tudor at the right line in the defence with Paramatti at the other line; in the forward Salas and Trezeguet try against the giallorossa defence. The play is tough. The first chance is for Lecce: Chevanton, Uruguayan forward, takes advantage of a misunderstanding between Paramatti and Montero, but his shot goes high. Juventus’ answers at 10': Nedved passes to Salas. The Chilean takes a try but the goalkeeper saves.

After the first quarter of an hour of a lot of runnings, the match goes on quieter. Another chance for the bianconeri at the 26': Tudor on Trezeguet’s passing, shoots high. Chevantongets anticipated in the area by Paramatti. From the distance Nedved tries to shoot and then Salas on a Thuram’s cross but the efforts go high. The last chance is for Juventus with a Zambrotta’s shot but his effort goes wide.

The second period starts with Zenoni substituting Tudor who got injured. Only Juventus try to score. Bianconeri are always in Lecce’s midfield but both defences do their job. Lippi’s men try with headers from the distance and on free-kicks. From the six movings that happened in the first twenty minutes the more dangerous is from Paramatti that on a cross from Zenoni puts Chimenti in difficulty. The former player of Bologna at the 32' gives space to O'Neill, while Cavasin substitutes Giorgetti and Vugrinec with Balleri and Colonnello. Seven minutes later Del Piero comes in for Salas. There’s a big chance for Juventus in the final, with Tacchinardi’s nice shot, that Chimenti pushes back to Davids that throws it in the box but the goalkeeper tries to anticipate Montero.
