JUVENTUS 3 - 3 TORINO

Incredible Juve. 3-0 in front after just 25 minutes, thanks to a brace from Del Piero and a goal from Tudor, the bianconeri were absolutely in control in the first half. However in the second half they allowed Torino to come back with goals from Lucarelli, Ferrante and Maspero. Then three minutes from the end of the match, Salas missed a penalty. An amazing Sunday for Lippi's team that had controlled the game so well at the start, as captain Del Piero opened the scoring after just 9 minutes.

Torino had marginally the better of the opening moments, with Osmanovski trying unsuccessfully to trouble Buffon, and with Lucarelli forcing the same goalkeeper to race out off his line. However Juve then took control of the game, a hold they would keep for the entire first half. Nedved crossed for Del Piero who gave Juve the lead with an excellent right footed effort (9'). Two minutes later the bianconeri doubled the lead, as from a Nedved freekick, Zambrotta pushed the ball to Tudor, who filling in for Davids today, scored. Two nil. Trezeguet then came close with a header that Bucci did well to push away. At this point Alex decided to take charge again. Well supplied by Nedved who was dominating the left hand side, the Juve captain swept the Czech's perfect cross into the net (25). Already 3-0! Still on the attack, Juve continued to push forward, where Del Piero, Trezeguet, Zambrotta and Nedved constantly troubled the granata defence.

At halftime Camolese substituted Osmanovski for Ferrante, who then partnered Lucarelli. Lippi's team kept creating chances, first with Trezeguet, and then with Nedved, but both efforts finished over the bar. This seemed to snap Torino back into life, and from their first real attack, they managed to pull a goal back. In a one-on-one between Buffon and Lucarelli, the striker finished well. At this point the match became more intense. The granata tried everything to further reduce the deficit, finally managing to get another goal when Ferrante converted a penalty given by Borriello for Thuram's challenge on Asta (3-2). After substituting Zenoni for Ferrara, Lippi also sent Salas on in place of Del Piero. The Chilean, after just five minutes on the pitch, had a good chance to score, but Bucci turned his effort away for a corner. Then in the 83rd minute, Torino levelled through Maspero. The drama still wasn't over, as right at the death, Salas missed a penalty.
