12/23/2001. Juventus found the right gears
on Sunday afternoon to dismiss a weak Brescia 4-0. Missing Roberto Baggio and
playmaker Guardiola, Carlo Mazzone's men were simply outclassed and could only
muster a threat early on.
Juve silenced the early rondinelle pressure with David Trezeguet heading home a
Lilian Thuram's cross despite attention from marker Alessandro Calori. Just
before the break the bianconeri doubled their lead with a Pavel Nedved pass
allowing Trezeguet to split the defence and set up Alessandro Del Piero who
neatly slotted past keeper Luca Castellazzi.
In the second half, Brescia were simply no match for the marauding Juve and in
the 55th minute the game was killed by more good work from Nedved. The Czech
engine's corner from the left was headed home by veteran Ciro Ferrara and with
21 minutes to go, Edgar Davids chimed in with an explosive free-kick from range.
