01/13/2002. A late Mark Iuliano goal
allowed Juventus to maintain the five point gap separating them from leaders AS
Roma and notch their fourth consecutive league triumph.
Despite Venezia came into this match holding the league standing's last place,
they played a very brave game, giving Juventus an extremely hard time,
especially after Magallanes levelled the score opened by Trezeguet after only
five minutes of play.
However the usually spot on Pippo Maniero missed a couple of inviting chances in
front of the Juve net, and Juve were able to charge ahead in the final twenty
minutes of the match looking for the game winner which arrived thanks to a close
range Mark Iuliano drive off a Nedved freekick.
In the final minute of the match Venezia protested for a Thuram foul on
Magallanes inside the box, but the ref decided the contact didn't warrant a
penalty, and Juve were able to leave the Lagoon victorious.
