The Author
John Gilfoyle started as a jackaroo and worked on "Yeppara" Quilpie and "Rivoli Downs" Longreach in Queensland before becoming a "bloody agent" with Elders.
His agency experience spans 35 years in Brisbane, Charleville, Richmond, Quilpie, Hughenden, Richmond, Townsville, and Roma where he "retired" in 1996.
Since then he has bought a few cattle for people, written stories for Blue's Country Magazine, done the market reporting at Roma Saleyards for seven years - and written four books!
John & Lurelle have now moved to Brisbane and are living at Arana Hills
... and he's written another book!
The books
Could best be described as "real stories about real people in the real Australia" and while they may not be written in text book English, they are in a very readable style and are hard to put down - and they're all true too!
