Australian Rules Football

If you've read my biography, you would know that I'm a keen AFL fan and follow the Richmond Tigers.

Bikes

After thinking I'd never own a motorbike as a kid (too dangerous), I came around to the idea in my early 20's. Mainly due to the many and costly problems that I had experienced trying to find a reliable car (Minis! That's another story!).

I bumped into my good friend Andrew, who I had met in my teenage years in the Air Training Corps, having not seen him for many years. Low and behold, he was a motorcycle courier in Perth. So, the seeds were planted and the rest is history...

I feel in love with my first bike, a Honda VT-250F2. Not bad for a first bike, and for someone new to the world of bikes - what performance! Who could want anything more???

Well, along came my next bike - a beautiful Honda VFR-750. If I was in love with my first bike, I was in lust for this one! And I should say that by this stage there was somewhat of a friendly rivalry developing between myself and the Suzuki-loving Andrew. Many a "fun" ride was spent demonstrating the "capabilities" of our chosen weapons.

Sadly, I had to sell my beloved VFR in order to be able to afford to go back to University. I did have a Yamaha XJ-750 that I used as my commuter during my University years, it finally suffering from a broken gearbox right at the end of my studies - phew!

I haven't had a bike since, but still get withdrawal symptoms and dream of buying a Honda CBR-1100 Blackbird or Ducati 900SS. Who knows, once we buy our house and buy the Subaru Imprezza WRX I'm also dreaming of, maybe I'll take the plunge and experience that great feeling of riding along the Perth coastline, etc. on a great bike yet again.

Cars

I have a keen interest in cars, particularly sports cars. My first 2 cars were both Minis (not the super sporty Cooper S - that I'd like! But fun regardless). The first an old 1964 Morris Mini, a classic but a "little" unreliable. Cute none the less.

My second car was a 1979 Leyland Mini, not as cute, but far more reliable and with a few added refinements.

A few more cars in between, including a nice looking 1974 Mitsubishi Gallant, until my current and probably best so far. My 1974 Toyota Celica Coupe. However, this is no ordinary 1974 Celica... No, it has been quite nicely modified with beautiful looks and a turbo-charged 2TGEU 1600cc motor with 5-speed gearbox.

Currently I'm in a bit of a crisis though. Trying to decide whether to keep my classic (well at least in the looks department) and somewhat unique Celica with the temptation of a Subaru Imprezza WRX turbo.

The jury's still out on that one. Until I can find a justifiable reason to spend the $40,000 Australian Dollars on the WRX, and until I've taken care of the small problem of buying a house, I think I'll stick with my Celica.
