Name: Rae Meredith Gunter. Most people who know me online know me as "Rae", some will know my surname if they happen to have noticed it at some point. I don't generally use my middle name for anything.
Date of Birth: 10th of December, 1980.
Place of Birth: Durban, Natal, South Africa.
Place of Residence: Perth, Western Australia. My family came here in June 1982.
Family: Ah, yes, them. I have a father and a sister. Those links should work... I also have a mother, but she doesn't have a webpage. I have relatives in South Africa and the UK. And there's a webpage for my ancestral home. The people who live there and run that place now are my second cousin and his wife.
Pets: I used to live with two cats, Mouse and Spike. I now just live with Spike, as my beloved Mouse died recently. Spike and I have a strong sibling rivalry thing happening. I think my favourite is when he tries to get me in trouble by either telling my mother I haven't fed him and he's starving to death here when either I have fed him or I haven't seen him, or by acting like he's terrified of me (because, of course, I kick him constantly, and frequently chase him with a stick - yeah, right). My father finds it amusing when I actually let it show that I love the little ratbag.
Music: I'm very eclectic. Of late (at time of writing), I've been listening to Springbok rugby songs and miscellaneous mp3s.
Books: Yes. I read a lot. I'll probably be adding a section for book reviews to the site soonish; certainly I'll be mentioning what I've been reading on my blog.
Other Web Authors: Sharon Bowers is my goddess. I also love Jane St Clair.
TV Shows: I like Star Trek: Voyager, for which I write fanfic. I also loved ST:TNG, and DS9, before it went sucky. There are other shows that I like, but for the most part, I don't watch television; I'd watch it more if I remembered when the shows I like are on, but (at time of writing) I just realised I've missed one yet again. <sigh>
Movies: I very rarely watch movies. My standards are high, and I don't have the attention span to watch movies that don't meet them. Maybe I'll do some movie reviews too... For a quick explanation, though, I like movies that make me think. Or if I'm going for a light comedy, I want it to be relatively intelligent. Toilet humour and slapstick don't really do it for me; i.e. I love Muppet Treasure Island and While You Were Sleeping, but will never see There's Something About Mary. I still haven't seen American Beauty, though I want to; I will never watch American Pie.
Oh, and I've never seen Titanic. And since I've got this far, I refuse to.
Games: I play The Sims. Also Zeus. And have both expansion packs. Another perennial favourite is a game called Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance. I tend to get bored with shoot'em ups. My mother has a Nintendo 64, but I very rarely play it; when I do, I tend to indulge in a bit of Zelda. I have played Quake 3. I think I lack sufficient testosterone to love it. I have a PlayStation, and the games I have for that are Final Fantasy 8 and 9, but I haven't played it in months.
