I set to work identifying the worst bits of the wood rot, you can see here a nasty bit of damage near the front of the cabin. I took out the damaged wood with a screw driver and set about the task of filling and sanding.
The end result was something a bit like this – not bad for my first attempt!
I had a similar problem on the starboard side as well – so here is a shot of the resin here before sanding.
There was also a lot of damage around the bow (I suspect due in part to some poor steering) a bit of poking around with the screw driver revealed that there wasn’t much of the original bow left!
Several layers of filler later, and lots and lots of sanding I came up with a result that I was pretty happy with.
