

Genres I've taught: short creative prose (fiction, fictocriticism/creative nonfiction, essay, reviews, ecocriticism), novel, prose poetry. I've also taught developing and maintaining creativity and use of the journal, editing, performance and publication. I've taught both developing and emerging writers varying in gender, ethnicity, sexuality, culture and class.


My teaching experience includes a number of different contexts: I currently teach at Southern Cross University. I have taught single courses: University of Canberra, Creative Writing PG in the Master of Creative Writing; Flinders University, Advanced Creative Writing Workshop, Short Stories and Their Writers and Creative Nonfiction within the Bachelor of Creative Arts. Creative Writing Study B (Experimental Writing) with the University of Adelaide. Single seminars: University of South Australia: writing for visual artists; Monash University where I was a writer-in-residence; University of Western Sydney: a masters seminar for Anna Gibbs; University of Adelaide: fictocriticism for Media Honours students; writers' centres (the Writers' Centre SA ) and community centres.


In the academy, I have examined honours and masters and PhD theses in creative writing (Southern Cross University; RMIT; University of Adelaide ; University of Technology, Sydney; University of Western Sydney; University of Canberra).


I have been on a number of committees involved in Australian literary culture, including judging panels for literary awards and committees for literary festivals: Adelaide Fringe, Adelaide Writers' Week, Australian Writers' Guild, C J Dennis Literary Awards, Friendly Street Poets, South Australian English Teachers' Association .
