Anthonie Adams [bef 1620-1661] Churchwarden & his wife Jacomine of Lezant, Cornwall. Eldest son Anthonie died Testate in 1677 at Lezant.  Francis Adams [bef 1680-1726] & his wife Petronell of Lezant and their several children. To eight generations.Roger Adams [1755-1806] married Elizabeth Hopper and settled at North Petherwin, Cornwall, where they had several issue. To five generations Leonard Adams [1780-1847] married Maria Squire, settling near Werrington, Cornwall where they had several issue - to 4 generations. John Adams [1815-1895] born in Werrington, Cornwall he married Betsey Williams of Tavistock. They immigrated to Australia in 1852. James Adams [1839-1895] born in Devonshire, immigrated with his parents in 1852, he married Charlotte Hamilton in Victoria. He died in a mining accident at Castlemaine. Henry Hopper [1708-1780] born in Cornwall, he had several issue at Bradford. His daughter married Leonard Adams & had issue. Hery Hopper Adams [1821-1898] born Cornwall, immigrated to New Zealand in 1842, married Joannah Killey & had issue. Mary Adams married Thomas Matters, settled at Launceston where they had issue, later immigrating to South Australia in 1852. Early Adams Families in Cornwall.

                                    WILLIAM ADAMS was baptised at Lezant [14 miles of Tremaine] on the 23rd March 1712 
                                                      the son of Francis Adams by his wife Paternell  based on evidence provided by another Parish Clerk [see link]. 
                                    
                                   Marriage: William Adams married Sarah Congdon by Banns 23rd January 1737 at LESNEWTH Cornwall
                                                      [10 miles WNW of Lezant]  [LDS=Condon]
                                                                       Sarah's baptism has not been found, the earliest entry for Lesnewth was the 
                                                                       marriage of William Congdon to Margert Salter on the 28th Sept. 1665. 

                                                      They eventually settled at Tremaine [4 miles of Lesnewth] where William was documented as having possession
                                                      of a sizeable property around 1740-1760.  Upon his decease, this Property was subsequently leased to 
                                                      John Andrew and upon his decease, the Estate was again Leased in 1805, recording as was the requirement
                                                      by Law, the two prior tennants;

                                                                      Principals;

                                                                      Consideration: 5/-  [Note this would be the holding deposit only]                                     Property:                  Parts of TREMAINE tenement being dwelling-house, barn, stable, wain-house and 5 fields (19 acres.),   
                                                                      with crofts (10acres), and 2 adj. fields called The Nankivels  (11acres), 
                                                                      late occupation of WILLIAM ADAMS, deceased, then John Andrew, deceased.

                                    Occupation: This document would imply that William was a Farmer.
                                             
                                                       All their children but two were baptised at neighbouring Treneglos [1 mile of Tremaine].
                                                      
                                    Death:      William Adams was buried on th 27th February 1761 at Treneglos estimated aged around forty-three.  
                                                      William was survived by his wife Sarah of 20 years marriage and his five surviving children;  
                                                       Robert aged 23yrs; William aged 20yrs; Paternel aged 17yrs; Mary aged 13yrs; Richard aged 11yrs;   
                                                       and Roger aged 8yrs.

                                   Widow:      Sarah Adams was buried 20th January 1796 at Treneglos estimated aged around seventy-eight. 

                                   Other:       The appearance of Thomas Adams and his wife Ellenor in the baptisim of their daughter Susanna
                                                      on the 17th February 1752 may be a family connection however the entry is isolated and
                                                      may not imply a parallel family.  
                               
                                   Issue; 
                                                       CHILD 1] Robert Adams baptised 18th March 1736 at OTTERHAM [3miles WSW of LESNEWTH].
                                                                         Re: Baptism date pre marriage - Parish Clerk remarks that baptism in this era 
                                                                                were often recorded 'out of order'.
                                                                          Robert Adams married Mary Parnell at TRENEGLOS 12th April 1762.  
                                                                          NOTE: Mary Parnell was baptised at BOYTON 7th Sept. 1733 daughter of John & Margaret.     
                                                                          The couple moved to BOYTON where they had the following issue;  
                                                                                 1] John Adams bapt. 16th June 1765 son of Robert & Mary at BOYTON. 
                                                                                 2] Margaret Adams bapt. 10th Feb. 1777 daughter of Robert & Mary at BOYTON      
                                                                                           - Margaret may have been buried at North Petherwin 27th Nov. 1778 [est. aged three months]
                                                                                              or same venue buried 10th June 1795 [est. aged 4 yrs].  
                                                                                              No suitable marriages were found so far.     
                                                                          Robert's spouse Mary nee Parnell was aged 44yrs in 1777 - no further births were recorded.
                                                                          Burials: 
                                                                                     No burials were recorded for either Robert or Mary at Boyton.     
                                                                          It is assumed that they eventually followed Robert's younger brother Roger Adams to  
                                                                          NORTH PETHERWIN after the death of his mother in 1796, and where where they were both buried 
                                                                          as follows; 
                                                                                     Mary Adams buried 17th January 1797 at North Petherwin [est. aged sixty-four].  
                                                                                     Robert Adams buried 4th October 1810 at North Petherwin [est. aged seventy-four]
                                                                                     [his brother Roger predeceasing him by four years, also buried Nth Petherwin]

                                                      CHILD 2] William Adams baptised 7th July 1741 at Treneglos;    
                                                                         William Adams married Elizabeth Parsons at Jacobstow [4 miles N of Treneglos] 21st May 1764.  
                                                                         Elizabeth was baptised at TRENEGLOS 30th Aug. 1737 daughter of Thomas & Mary.
                                                                         Issue:  
                                                                                   John Adams bapt. 26th Nov. 1769 Treneglos, son of William & Elizabeth [Elizabeth aged 32]              
                                                                                   Sarah Adams bapt. 10th August 1772 Treneglos, son of William & Elizabeth [Elizabeth aged 35?]
                                                                                   No further likely baptisms found.
                                                                                   Elizabeth was aged thirty-five in 1772.  No further baptisms were found.    
                                                                         Burials: 
                                                                                   No Burials were found at Treneglos for either William or Elizabeth.   
                                                                                   Elsewhere: Several burials could apply at various venues 
                                                                                                        however only one venue gives burials for Both;   
                                                                                   Elizabeth Adams buried 10th January 1779 at NORTH PETHERWIN.   
                                                                                   William Adams buried 30th March 1785 and another 10th June 1794 at NORTH PETERWIN.  
                                                                         If same Elizabeth died only seven years after the birth of her youngest child.
  
                                                                        The scenario presents that she may have been ill when moving to North Petherwin and after 
                                                                         her death William had the support of his family i.e. brothers Roger and Robert both residing 
                                                                         at North Petherwin at this time as his mother was quite elderly at this time.
    
                                                      CHILD 3] Peternel Adams baptised 2nd Sept. 1744 at Treneglos;  [the namesake of her paternal grandmother] 
                                                                         At the age of thirty, Paternel gave birth to a base born son William Newton Adams 
                                                                          baptised 14th August 1774 son of Petronell Adams at Treneglos.                        
                                                                         family appears to have left Tremaine around this time i.e. 1774.                         
                                                                         Marriage/Burial:   
                                                                         There was no record of Marriage or Burial at Treneglos or Tremaine for Peternel Adams.
    
                                                      CHILD 4] Mary Adams baptised 7th August 1748 at Treneglos;                        
                                                                         Several marriages could apply at various venues. 
                      
                                                      CHILD 5] Richard Adams baptised 30th August 1752 at Treneglos, son of William & Sarah 'of TRESMEER';
                             -                                           outcome unknown - was not married or buried at Treneglos.
    
                                                      CHILD 6] Roger Adams baptised 9th March 1755 son of William & Sarah TREMAINE;                           
                                                                        Re-located to Boyton and subsequently married Elizabeth Hopper at Ashwater 1779  
                                                                        settled at North Petherwin where he recorded issue: Leonard 1782; John 1784 & Elizabeth 1786.
                                                                        Roger was buried at North Petherwin on the 15th February 1806 at the est. age of fifty-one.
