Hillgrove Websites

Ken Morris at Hillgrove Websites will design, publish and promote a website for your business for as little as $300.00.

The website

For most businesses I recommend a Microsoft FrontPage Corporate Presence web, because a lot of the work is automated in this website construction program, which saves my time and your money.

Most of the commercial and organisation websites I have built contain between 10 and 30 pages, depending on the nature of the activity. I like to include photographs of the premises, and the principal people involved in the business or organisation. I believe that this helps potential clients feel that they know who they are dealing with.

I can take all the pictures required with a digital camera if your business is in the Geraldton to Dongara area. If you are outside this area and/or already have suitable printed pictures I can scan them for you. I computer enhance and edit the pictures for maximum quality and minimum file size. One of the facts of life on the Internet is that if a page is too slow to load, people will go elsewhere, so you could have the finest photograph ever taken but if it takes too long to load, no-one will see it. Reduction of file size is therefore very important.

The Host

If you are already familiar with the Internet and its operations, please skip straight to "The Offer". The following segment explains website hosting to people who have had little or nothing to do with the Internet.

A website must be on a web server that operates 24 hours a day. The people who provide this service are called hosts, and are usually also Internet Service Providers (ISP's) I use and recommend Westnet Pty Ltd as an ISP and as a host for your website, should you decide to have one. Most ISP's allow you some web space for a website as part of your membership, for no further charge. This site is hosted by Westnet as part of my membership. I pay no extra fee for this hosting.

If you are a business you may opt to register your own domain and have domain hosting. I'm happy to explain the pros and cons of these options to you if you contact me.

You can view WestNet's domain hosting pricing options here.

The Offer

The corporate presence website I have described above would usually cost between $200.00 and $500.00. The proposed website is your property, you tell me how you want it to be and that is how it is. You do not pay me until you are happy with it and it is published. That is the way I do business, and I have had no complaints so far.

Included in my website construction price is:
bullet

Taking new or scanning existing photographs, computer enhancing all photographs required for the website, and optimising file size for quick loading.

bullet

Listing your URL (the address of your website) with the major search engines, so that people will be able to find it.

bullet

To this end I include a lot of hidden keywords in the websites I build. These keywords are read by the search engine spiders (electronic robots) which sift the World Wide Web for new websites and list them in their database under the keywords included.

bullet

A reasonable amount of updates to the site at no further charge. i.e. changes to prices, new services or products, that sort of thing. If you decide to have Hillgrove Websites maintain your site after completion I can negotiate a scale of charges for long-term site maintenance tasks, or a small monthly fee billed every six months, say. Alternatively, you may wish to maintain the site yourself. I will give as much help as I can in showing you how to do that if required.

In summary, whilst I am not a graphic designer I can put together and arrange hosting of an attractive, functional website for a fraction of the charges that the big designers bill. My income sources are varied; I own a dog boarding kennel, draw Commonwealth Superannuation for the 25 years I served in the RAAF, give computer skills coaching to private clients and of course I build websites.

Because of the variety of these activities I often have quiet time which I can put to use in website construction work. There is no way I could do it at this price if I had to make a living from it. Doing it in my free time it is modestly profitable.

Most commercial websites are built by businesses which charge around $2,000. Some cost many millions of dollars. I do not have the expertise to build a multi million dollar portal site, but I believe I can produce a business promotion website you will be happy with, and at a very modest fee. I have built a lot of commercial websites, and if you wish I will forward you the URL's of sites I have built for clients in a similar business to yours.

Online browsing at any hour is just too convenient to be ignored and I firmly believe that more and more people will search for goods and services from home or work before making a decision on where to purchase. If you don't have a website they will definitely not be seeing what your business has to offer. It could be years before the lack of a website will begin to hurt your business, it is quite possible you are missing valuable opportunities now.

I do know that at around $10.00 a week for hosting and a one-off $200 - $500 for design, publication and listing, a website is a very cost-effective form of advertising.

Where today's print advertising is tomorrow's fish wrappers, radio and TV advertising is short-lived and expensive, brochures age and date, a website can be refreshed and updated daily if required, and if you do it yourself, at no cost.

There is nothing to stop you updating the website every time you introduce new goods and services, hold a sale, change your prices etc.

I hope that you will allow me to provide you with a free, no-obligation quote for a website so that I can showcase your business to the world via the Internet.
