What is Dyke Write?

Dyke Write is a site that showcases the poetry and prose of scarlet and phoenix - two hot, feisty, literature-lovin', women-lovin' dykes from opposite sides of the globe. Dyke Write is also proud to offer the opportunity for other lesbian and bisexual women across the world to post their literary works of art.

Where can I read all this fabulous 'women loving women' literature?

All the writing published at Dyke Write is compiled together in aforum. You can get to the forum from the index page by following the links titled 'scarlet', 'phoenix', and 'guests'.

Why a forum?

We chose to host the writing in a forum format for two main reasons: ease of submission - having a forum makes it easier for our guests to post their writing; freedom of comment - a forum allows visitors to Dyke Write to post comments on individual pieces of writing, creating a direct link to the author(s) and an opening for discussion.

How do I post my writing at the Dyke Write forum?

Simply register to become a member of the forum by filling out the registration form and providing a valid email address for your password to be sent to you. Once you have your password, you will be able to log in to the forum and post your writing under the appropriate section in the guests' writing area.

Is it safe to publish my writing on the internet?

Yes, provided you take appropriate precautions. Please read Dyke Write's policy on copyright. Your original writing is your intellectual property, you have the right and responsibility to protect it! When posting to the forum, please include the word 'copyright' and the date you produced your work to protect it. Because the internet is dynamic and there are occasionally glitches in the technology, we also recommend keeping a print out or some other copy of your work in case something happens and your post gets 'lost' in cyberspace.

Does Dyke Write guarantee my privacy?

Yes and no. Dyke Write has a detailed privacy policy that guarantees email addresses supplied directly to us will not be shared. However, Dyke Write cannot guarantee your privacy through our public pages (i.e. the forum or guestbook). The forum has an option on the registration form to hide your email address. We recommend that you choose this option if you do not wish to have your email address publicly visible.

I am concerned about questionable content that is available on the internet. Does Dyke Write contain any pornography?

No. While Dyke Write is geared more towards and adult audience, we are very strict about keeping our site free from pornography. We will not link to sites containing pornographic material or any other tool in the oppression of women. Dyke Write is here to celebrate creativity in lesbian and bisexual women, NOT to promote them as tools for sexual gratification. Is Dyke Write just about literature?

Dyke Write is primarily about showcasing writing of lesbian and bisexual women. However, we appreciate and celebrate creativity in all forms. Dyke Write provides links to a wealth of women-oriented sites, whether they be other literature sites, art and photography sites, or general resource sites. We realize that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find non-pornographic lesbian content on the internet, so we are aiming to make Dyke Write a gateway to quality sites on the net.

I have a lesbian-orented website. Can I provide a link to Dyke Write for my visitors? Can I get Dyke Write to provide a link to my site?

Yes. Dyke Write provides a 'free for all' links service divided into various categories, that also contains information on how to link to our site. If you wish to submit your site to our links page, simply follow the instructions and you will be notified of your site's addition. Please note that there will be a delay of approximately one week when submitting your site, this is to allow scarlet and phoenix time to approve the content and make sure it is appropriate and useful to our visitors. We will NOT link to any site that has pornographic content!
