| i started writing when i was about 12 years old. i can't say exactly what it was that got me started, but i do know that i use poetry as a tool to exorcise my emotions. a lot of my earlier writing was centred around the usual feelings of teenage angst - i wanted to grow up and express myself - poetry gave me a voice. | |
| you won't find any of my earliest writing posted here, being the frustrated artist that i am, i unfortunately destroyed it all quite a few years ago in fit of self-loathing. i often wonder if there would be an obvious pattern in the evolution of my writing/emotions had i actually kept it. regardless though, i think you will find there is a marked progression in quality and theme between the past and present works i have posted here at Dyke Write. i can only hope that as i age and my field of experience improves, so too will my writing. | |
