Centenary Medals presentations

East Kimberley recipients of Centenary Medals had their official presentations this week.

Federal Member Barry Haase is at the end of a five-day whirlwind tour of the Midwest, Gascoyne, Pilbara and Kimberley.

During the trip he has presented 75 Centenary Medals.

Prime Minister John Howard announced Creation of the Centenary Medal in December 2001.

"The Centenary Medal honours recipients for the contribution made to Australian society and government by Australians at the commencement of the new century," Mr Haase said.

The presentation ceremonies are being held to formally celebrate each recipient's personal contribution to the community.
