In considering animals some observers differentiate between animal welfare
and animal rights. Animal welfare proponents have typically examined the ways in which animals
are routinely treated by humans, going on to argue for strengthening and active enforcement
of existing 'animal welfare' law. Animal rights proponents argue that animals have fundamental
rights that are akin to those of humans. On the basis of those rights
animals should not
be used for particular purposes and indeed in the view of some rights activists should not be
used
for any purposes.

"Should Dogs Be Kept As Pets? NO!" [Good Dog! February 1991, p.20]
"Let us allow the dog to disappear from our brick and concrete jungles -- from our firesides,
from the leather nooses and chains by which we enslave it."
[New Jersey Animal Rights Alliance,]
"It is time we demand an end to the misguided and abusive concept of animal ownership.
The first step on this long, but just, road would be ending the
concept of pet ownership."
[Elliot Katz, President,  "In Defense of Animals," Spring 1997]
"Liberating our language by eliminating the word 'pet' is the first step ... In an ideal society
where all exploitation and oppression has been eliminated, it will be NJARA's policy to
oppose the keeping of animals as 'pets."
[John Bryant, Fettered Kingdoms: An Examination
of A Changing Ethic, PETA, 1982]

"Killing pets is against animal rights, but pet breeding perpetuates slavery".
[Animal Rights Malta.com
is an independent animal rights movement from Malta, which focuses on local and international animal rights issues.]
"I'd rather see a species extinct, than their offspring suffering over and over for human use."
We at PETA very much love the animal companions who share our homes, but we believe that it
would have been in the animals' best interests if the institution of "pet keeping"—i.e., breeding
animals to be kept and regarded as "pets"—never existed. The international pastime of
domesticating animals has created an overpopulation crisis; as a result, millions of unwanted
animals are destroyed every year as "surplus." This selfish desire to possess animals and
receive love from them causes immeasurable suffering, which results from manipulating their
breeding, selling or giving them away casually, and depriving them of the opportunity to engage
in their natural behavior. Their lives are restricted to human homes where they must obey
commands and can only eat, drink, and even urinate when humans allow them to.
"
Pet ownership is an abysmal situation brought about by human manipulation."
[-Ingrid Newkirk, President, PETA, Washingtonian, August 1986]
"I don't use the word "pet." I think it's speciesist language. I prefer "companion animal."
For one thing, we would no longer allow breeding. People could not create different breeds.
There would be no pet shops. If people had companion animals in their homes, those animals
would have to be refugees from the animal shelters and the streets. You would have a protective
relationship with them just as you would with an orphaned child. But as the surplus of cats
and dogs (artificially engineered by centuries of forced breeding) declined, eventually companion
animals would be phased out, and we would return to a more symbiotic relationship "enjoyment
at a distance."
[-Ingrid Newkirk, PETA vice-president, quoted in The Harper's Forum Book, Jack Hitt,
 ed., 1989,]

Last year more than 20,000 sheep were attacked by uncontrolled dogs
Sheep (often pregnant) have
no defence whatsoever and suffer severe bites to all parts of their body.  They may have their ears
severed and can die of heart attacks.  Entire flocks are savaged. Trained sheep dogs can cause stress in the
flock, and in extreme cases can injure animals

When did we as a community decide that the animals who have sustained  human evolution since time
began, have human characteristics, even to the point of promoting equal justice and freedom of speech
for animals?. More and more animal rightist organisations are claiming similarities to the Slave trade and
the Negro Freedom Fights of the 60s and 70s, Minority groups have been busy promoting their causes
under various labels and labeling the closest animal to man [the dog] as an undesirable species second
only to humans themselves on the planet. Imagine that some people think we humans
just aren't good enough to own or use animals. In fact they’re so convinced of this that they form large
organizations that work tirelessly around the clock and around the world to eliminate animal farming, eating
of meat, and yes, pets.
Outrageous and ignorant Claims such as
"The biggest  problems of our planet are disease,  hunger, environmental
devastation, and death. Every one of these traces its roots more or less
directly to animal agriculture."  are becoming common place.

One belief all these persons seem to hold in common is that the Human species is the most
aberrant animal on the planet " Michael W. Fox, Scientific Director and former Vice President of HSUS
[Humane Society of the United States] said  “Man is the most dangerous, destructive, selfish, and
unethical animal on earth.” Wayne Pacelle, President of HSUS: "One generation and out.
We have no problem with the extinction of domestic animals. They are creations of human selective breeding."
Ingrid Newkirk, President and co-founder of PETA:saidI am not a morose person, but I would rather
not be here. I don’t have any reverence for life, only for the entities themselves. I would rather see a
blank space where I am".

Who knows, one day, maybe life will be like Star Trek. We'll be better educated about the suffering of
others. Pain will be easily conquered by more sophisticated drugs and there will be a food synthesizer
in every home. Of course, chickens, cows, pigs - and dogs, will no longer be in demand and may
well become extinct.
Slavery of others is now totally unacceptable because they are no longer considered
as property.
When non-humans are liberated as well, they too will no longer be considered as property.
This would mean that breeding them, selling them, taking the offspring from parents and giving them
out or selling them etc would be prohibited.
[Sentiments as expressed by the youth of today on various forums]

A hard-hitting US lawyer talks to Animal Liberation NSW "my work has been directed towards providing legal and philosophical
arguments in favour of abolition. The abolitionist position is that the institution of animal property is morally unjustifiable, just as was the
institution of human property or slavery. The abolitionist urges that we abolish the institution of animal property and that we
should not support measures that supposedly make animal slavery more "humane".

RSPCA raiding farms unannounced  Farm Weekly Friday, 30 March 2007

RSPCA inspectors are turning up at farmers' properties unannounced to follow up on complaints of animal
cruelty.
A recent inspection of a property in Great Southern, Western Australia, by the RSPCA is a clear sign
that officers will be visiting farms if they believe a complaint is serious enough to warrant a check.

THINGS YOU CAN DO TO RESIST THE RISING TIDE

Do your homework
Before donating your money, make sure you know to whom it is going, and to what use it will be put, remember the RSPCA have brought
an action IN COURT against the live shipping companies in WA.
  1. DO NOT support the RSPCA directly.
  2. DO NOT give money to the RSPCA.
  3. DO NOT use the RSPCA veterinary facility.
  4. DO NOT use the RSPCA boarding facility
  5. DO NOT purchase anything through the RSPCA telephone facilitated gift store.
  6. DO buy animal feed, such as dog food and cat food and donate it to the animals in need.
  7. DO buy blankets and towels and donate those to the animals that need them.
  8. DO buy worming medications and donate those to the animals that need them.
  9. DO offer to volunteer some of your time to walk a homeless dog which is awaiting the perfect family to come along.
  10. DO offer to volunteer your time to give a cat or kitten a cuddle and a brush.
Animal Terrorist Organization are always crying out for donation to help the animals and because there are so many,
it's difficult to know what to do and what not to do. To give you a guide, follow these three simple step:
  1. DO NOT make any donations unless you know exactly where your donation is going and what
  2. it is helping to fund. Animal Terrorist Organization wear many different coats, they can be found
  3. under many different umbrellas. Do not be fooled by their very clever marketing and sales pitches
  4. which will pull at your heart strings.
  5. DO buy blankets, food, worm tablets & the like and take it to your local animal shelter.
  6. You will know exactly who will get your donation.
  7. ASK questions before you empty your pockets of cash. Ask where your money is going.
  8. Ask what your money is supporting.
  9. Don't give in to the emotional blackmail that AL indulges in, call your dogs PETS if you want to.

We have to understand that AL [animal liberationists] do not share a common frame of moral
reference with the rest of society
.
Whereas most of us believe that humans have the highest moral value,
it is an article of faith among AL that no moral distinction exists between humans and animals; "a rat, is a dog,
is a boy," in one animal liberationist's infamous assertion. Thus, while most of us believe that we have a
positive moral duty to treat animals humanely and support punishing people that abuse them, ARL movement
devotees believe — not metaphorically, but literally — that we have no right to use animals for any purpose,
not even as seeing-eye dogs.

In this surreal moral prism, real evil is reduced to banality as advocates equate cattle ranching with human slavery,
Mengele's notorious twin experiments with testing the safety of stem cells in rats, and the sending of Jews to the
gas showers at Auschwitz with eating a steak. Lest you think I exaggerate, in its pro-vegetarian "Holocaust on
Your Plate Campaign," People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) asserted, "The leather sofa and
handbag are the moral equivalent of the lampshades made from the skins of people killed in the death camps.
What's worse: They meant every word.

The ideological struggle must be joined. AL ideology is a frontal attack on human exceptionalism (and not
the only one we face). In this sense, it is profoundly anti-human, both in its first principles and in consequential
effects. This is undeniably subversive to the moral order. Believing that humans are unique and special is
essential to promoting the ideal of universal human rights. After all, if we are just another species of animal
in the forest, that is precisely how we will act.

Call upon prominent animal-rights/liberation leaders to condemn violence and intimidation unequivocally.
Too often, prominent leaders of the AL movement who do not engage personally in lawlessness, praise
animal-rights terrorism with faint damnation, or none at all. With the threat that someone may be killed as a
result of animal-rights terrorism growing, such shrugs of the shoulder are unacceptable. If animal-rights/liberation
leaders expect to be deemed legitimate participants in the public square, they have a duty to use their influence to
dissuade their more extremist colleagues from engaging in violence and threats. Failing to do so will reveal
where their true sympathies lie.

Government must do more to protect companies that use animals and their business associates.
Government is beginning to respond to the threat posed by groups such as SHAC and the Animal Liberation Front (ALF).
We must move faster and with a greater sense of urgency. Federal and state laws need to protect businesses
of those threatened by ARL extremism, and the homes of their employees. This should include using anti-stalking
laws to protect identified categories of victims as well as individuals. Any non-profit organization that is proved to be
a front for, or funder of, animal-rights terrorist activities, should lose its tax-exempt status, and have their assets frozen

just as the government does Islamist terrorist front groups.

Businesses must take the threat seriously,[and that means Farms]. Too often, corporations threatened by
AL intimidation campaigns adopt a hide-under-the-desk-and-hope-they-go-away strategy.
Such appeasement won't work. AL are bullies and ideological true believers, and perceived weakness
in their victims only encourages them. Understanding this is the first step toward building an overarching
corporate strategy to meet the threat. Among other agenda items, companies need to ensure that their use of
animals and that of their sub contractors meets or exceeds legal standards;
  and resources must be committed
to the ideological struggle that lies ahead. It is also essential to quantify the tremendous good people receive from
the proper and humane use of animals, an issue so seemingly self-evident that too many of us take it for granted.

Protecting animal welfare is a noble cause. But animal-rights/liberation is not merely animal welfarism with a high
metabolism. The former seeks to make the human use of animals increasingly more humane, while the latter seeks
to end it altogether. This advocacy is perfectly legal, of course. But we dare not tolerate violence, threats, or
intimidation — overt or implied — against those who make proper use of animals.
Nor should we grant any
legitimacy to movement leaders who do.

It's over, folks. A North Carolina jury has acquitted two PETA employees of Animal Cruelty and Obtaining Property By False Pretenses. Guilty verdicts were handed down for Littering, in connection with PETA employees Adria Hinkle and Andrew Cook's improper disposal of their
furry victims' bodies. Hinkle and Cook were each given suspended 10-day jail sentences, 12 months' probation, 50 hours of community service, a $1,000 fine, and nearly $3,000 in restitution. And PETA's "death van" has been confiscated by the town of Ahoskie, NC.
PETA will undoubtedly launch a legal appeal.

Exclusive: PETA’s Pet Killing Program Set a New Record in 2008
Animal lovers worldwide now have access to more than a decade’s worth of proof that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
(PETA) kills thousands of defenseless pets at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. Since 1998, PETA has opted to “put down”
21,339 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens instead of finding homes for them.
PETA’s “Animal Record” report for 2008, filed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services,
shows that the animal rights group killed 95 percent of the dogs and cats in its care last year.  During all of 2008, PETA
found adoptive homes for just seven pets. Just seven animals -- out of the 2,216 it took in. PETA just broke its own record.

Live Animal Export Trade The Other Side of the Story.

In the 2009/10 Budget, the Australian Government announced the Live Trade Animal Welfare Partnership, which will invest $3.2 million over three years, including $1.6 million from the government with matching support from Australian producers and livestock exporters to further improve animal welfare in, and support trade with, overseas markets. The Government has also introduced legislation that provides stronger regulation of the livestock export industry. This includes a requirement to comply with the Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock.

I created this page three to four years ago. Since that time Farmers have taken NO STEPS to protect themselves and their industry, RESULT !! MAY 2011:-
Lyn White with the help of our National Broadcaster ABC produces :-

"Australia's most respected current affairs program Four Corners airs explosive footage of Animals Australia's investigation into the live export trade to Indonesia, exposing unspeakable suffering and torture endured by Australian cattle nightly in that country. Websites of Animals Australia and campaign partners, RSPCA Australia and GetUp! crash as outraged Australians attempt to make their voices heard. In the first 24 hours after the screening a bill is announced to parliament to end live exports as the government immediately suspends exports to the abattoirs identified; the Agriculture Ministers phone system is brought down; tens of thousands of emails are sent to the Prime Minister Julia Gillard local MPs; the number one nationwide Twitter trend becomes #BanLiveExport and a petition to ban live exports is the fastest growing petition in GetUp!'s history. Australians have sent a clear message to their leaders that they will accept nothing less than a total ban on live animal export."

See a list of the fellow travellers of Animals Australia across all States in Australia here:-  http://www.animalsaustralia.org/about/member_societies.php

If Lyn White (Animals Australia) and the RSPCA were genuinely only interested in the welfare of animals, why did they not provide the footage to the meat industry as soon as they obtained it? The utter shock and outrage demonstrated by the industry is clear evidence that action would have immediately been taken to prevent unacceptable practices. Instead – Animals Australia sought to extend their campaign against agriculture through a haze of sensationalised media spin. The truth is that these people are on a crusade, a vegan crusade. Perhaps these folk could start a campaign to provide 300 and odd million Indonesian households with fridges along with the power to run them of course. Or could it be that the fact that the world's hungry are of little importance to her and her vegan friends because they are "ONLY PEOPLE" after all. The sheer arrogance of these comfortably situated folk promoting their crusades to turn the world into one vast cropping planet is doomed to failure, in the mean time the farmers the very people who can and do promote logical animal welfare
continues to be the target of the campaigns they think up from the comfort and luxury of their air conditioned offices and homes. In the latest update Australian Senetor exposes payments made to the Indonesian abattoir workers filmed by Animals Australia
