The N.S.W. R.T.M. is an independent , voluntary organisation established in1962 for the purpose of collecting , preserving , restoring & presenting the railway heritage of N.S.W. for the benefit of the community.
The Museum has over 2000 members including an "Active Member" workforce of over 300 members . The Museum is largely self funding & over the years has recieved only limited external support.
The Museum has saved , preserved & maintains in custody ( & on display ) The largest & most significant collection of heritage rollingstock in Australia ; A proportion if it belongs to the RAILCORP in N.S.W.
