Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC)

and

Certificate III in Permaculture

courses now available

At Living Waters we run the standard "two week" PDC devised by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren. (Full course outline here)

The PDC is a complete "stand alone" course. It presents the quintessential essence of Permaculture, covering the basic principles and providing the necessary foundation to design and implement your own projects. It will inspire you to take permaculture into your own life!

The PDC is also an integral part of the nationally accredited Certificate 3 in Permaculture, to which we also provide access.

These courses are led by experienced WA Permaculture teachers and are a perfect opportunity to engage with the new accredited Permaculture training, and recieve recognised qualifications in sustainable design.

You are invited to call (08)9848 2171 or email us for any information you feel you may require.

Your actions are evidence of your desire for human cultural permanence

As we develop strategies to live a more gentle way, it is important to share information and skills learnt. Sowing seeds in peoples' minds, and showing that with a bit of consideration and shift in perspective, it becomes easy to lessen our own impact on the land, and to begin making a positive impact on the planet.

Participating in a Permaculture course is a hands on way to learn and be inspired. Most people are amazed at the applicability of Permaculture principles to our whole way of life, and that the keys to many of our culture's apparently insoluble dilemmas are "just common sense". The course brings about a sense of place within the universe by teaching natural laws, cycles and patterns inherent in the earth. These form a basis for living in a way appropriate to the environment; from dwellings to land management, water harvesting, appropriate cropping and the management and re-generation of native bush or degraded land. It looks at things in a holistic way, with many elements supported by many functions. The result evolves as a complex web that can adapt to change, and is resilient to natural and social disaster. Permaculture is a design system that finds solutions suited to the particular set of circumstances in a given situation, taking into account everything - especially you!

Permaculture is positive action. The Living Waters course is designed for people who want appropriate technologies to assist them in design, farming, gardening and engineering, and provides you with the basis to set up your own sustainable system, or become a Permaculture consultant.

The Permaculture movement itself has evolved into an informal array of people carrying out their lives in an ethical manner, teaching and sharing in a very direct way. Many "Permies" travel to developing areas at their own expense, and volunteer their services and skills, and there are many groups and associations active in all sorts of projects around Australia and the world. As Bill Mollisson said, "It's the biggest aid organisation in the world, and it doesn't own a single 4 wheel drive ute!"
