Hiroshima-jo, Japan. Old fuedal warlord's castle now open to the public. On display are the samurai swords and armour of several centuries ago. The castle remained untouched by the atomic bomb from World War II. House of Commons, Westminster, London. The clock tower at the House of Commons is commonly referred to as Big Ben when Big Ben is in fact the clock. The Monarch opens Parliament every year but has no actual power to create laws. Visitors can view proceedings in the chamber. Karatsu-jo, Japan. Set in the beautiful seaside fishing village of Karatsu.
The Manhattan Skyline. It has changed considerably since I was last there. Matsue-jo, Japan. Nearby features are: Tottori sand dunes (tallest in the world), Toyama woodcarving village, Todai lighthouse, En Musubi - the Girlfriend Temple. Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 1835 by John Batman. Melbourne is a swarming, vibrant city. Home of the Australian Open tennis tournament and also the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Best to visit in spring when the parks are in full bloom. The Melbourne Markets are reknowned in Australia.
Miyajima Otorii, Japan. The Miyajima Otorii (Grand Gate) is one of the three most beautiful sights in Japan. It is very humid in summer and the surrounding mountains take your breath away. Narvik, Norway. This area was the site of a large naval battle between the British and German forces during World War II. The mountains and fjords are wonderous to view. Lose yourself in an almost-Arctic experience. See the Northern Lights during the winter months. View from the Empire State Building. One of the safest places on earth to visit, there are so many armed forces about that not much crime is committed. The Manhattan Skyline is not as interesting as it once was and has levelled out a bit. New Yorkers have one of the funniest accents to listen to and it is peculiar to the city.
Paris, France. The Eiffel Tower was the largest construction in the world when building was completed in 1889. Parisians love to sit in the cafes and watch the people go by. You can't get by without eating your pain - bread. Crepes with chocolate on the street corner are fabulous. The metropolitan gives you exceptional service to all sections of Paris. A little French will make your stay that much better. Le Louvre entry is half price after 4 pm. Penrhyn Castle, Wales, was a 160 room private residence built on the profits of a slate quarry. Situated just on the outskirts of Bangor. Perth, WA. Anzac Day Dawn. One of my favourite pics. Founded in 1829 (before Melbourne and Adelaide) and accepted convicts from Britain until 1860. Has a diverse population of Anglo Saxons, Chinese, Italians and Vietnamese. Situated only 20 kms from the port of Fremantle. Fourth largest city in Australia.
