Welcome ! I hope you will enjoy the many photos and other information included here.
Most photos are unposed and ( I hope ) entertaining, illustrating the varied and delightful nature of these dogs.
Several trips to Zimbabwe have given me a personal insight ( see "Links" ) into the history and development of the breed, and I have also been lucky enough to see Ridgebacks in a number of other countries.
As for myself, I have owned several Rhodesian Ridgebacks in the last 20 years. I have taken part in Conformation, Obedience, Endurance and breeding ( as "Makimba" ), but my favourite activity, by a very wide margin, is just living with them and enjoying them.*Many people, even those involved with the breed, are confused by the related geography.

The term "Rhodesian" in the breed name refers to the country of origin, now known as Zimbabwe.
It was previously called Southern Rhodesia, but is, and was, a completely separate country from South Africa.
In the late 1890's and early 1900's, the forebears of the Rhodesian Ridgeback were taken into Rhodesia from South Africa, but it was in Rhodesia that the breed standard was written and the first dogs registered in the 1920's.
