Harry's Very Own Page

We were very lucky to have lived for more than thirteen years
with a most entertaining Rhodesian Ridgeback dog called Harry.

Sadly, Harry died on New Year's Day, 2006, but after only a few hours of ill health, which was a wonderful end for a truly wonderful dog. The lives of many people were made a little better by knowing him, and I am sure he will not be forgotten by any of us. A special dog, that's for sure.

He was also known as Hamster-Head, Big Ted, Pea Brain, or Captain Snooze
and almost never by his formal name of
Aust. Champion Makimba Mzulu

Harry gave us hundreds of years' worth of laughs and entertainment, but what else would you expect from a fellow who lived with his aged mother ?

Harry in 2002 :

The following photos are obviously very old, but they say so much about Harry
that I want to leave them here for you to enjoy.

Looking quite in command of things
at about 4 weeks of age.

It was at this time that his name became
Harry, because he looked like
a manly sort of chap.

Even at this age he already had firm ideas
about what he wanted in life.

The most important human in his life
is his "Dad", Simon.
They have a shared interest in,
and talent for, sleeping in.

This is a dog who never minds
people making fun of him
- he always seems to join in the joke.

Finally, here he is doing a creditable
and entirely unjustified
impersonation of an outback chap
enjoying a hard-earned rest !
