THE GROUP 4 HANDICAP
The Melbourne Cup is recognized, as the horse race of the year.
The racing fans at Flemmington, will give a mighty cheer.
But while the crowd are cheering, for the final half a lap,
Another race is starting.. The Group 4 Handicap.
This race is rather classy, It's run with ample pride,
So lets look at the starters and check the racing guide.
"BOSSY BENNETT" Number one, a big gun in the race.
Has shown a lot of promise, So back him for a place.
Number two is "RODNEYS' RULE", He'll give this one a shake,
and could be first to greet the judge if he gets an even break.
"CUTIE PYE", at number three, you can back her for a win.
Starting as the favorite, should really canter in.
Lining up at number four, is Kiwi trained and bred.
"ALISTAIRS CURSE", may have a chance, on a fairway drive instead.
Number five, is "HANDOS' HOPE", his age might be a test,
but don't completely write him off. He may just prove he's best.
The upset could be number six, the filly, "WINNIES WAY".
She's had a stint in Europe, and needs the extra pay.
Lucky seven, "ROWDY RYAN", Has not been seen of late,
returning home from overseas, Her form will not be great.
"MISTER MARTIN", number eight, could have his lucky day.
At least he will be noticed, He'll be the only grey.
And, "TERRI TOWELING", number nine, has shown a bit of style,
displayed a lot of promise, and been around a while
"JOVIAL JUDY", starts at ten, reliable, steady and wise.
Showing little signs of age, and could be the surprise.
Eleven is an even bet, and due to take the pay.
But recent form has clearly shown, it won't be "DAVIDS DAY".
Number twelve is "FRISKY FRAN", the senior of the race.
She'll find the going rugged, and may drop off the pace.
So there you have a field of twelve, to cheer their final lap.
I hope you back the winner, of The Group 4 Handicap.
